We have investigated the effect of HPV infection on the development of cervix dysplasias and GSH and ß-carotene levels in plasma of 528 women. HPV DNA was estimated using Digene Hybride Capture System and GSH and ß-carotene by the high performance liquid chromatography method (HPLC). Our studies show that in the case of HPV infection GSH level decreased but GSSG level increased. The quantitative GSH/GSSG ratio reflects the above changes of both pepties which are the more distinct the bigger are pathological changes in the urerus cervix. HPV infection was shown to cause a decrease of ß-carotene level. It was found that with increased advancement of cervical dysplasia the level of ß-carotene in serum decrease.
