The recent knowledge of harmful effects of lead on blood levels in children previously considered to be within the normal range provides a new outlook on lead poisoning. The present data indicate a significant harmful outcome with the blood lead level >15 mcg/dl. The present study is a review of literature focussing mainly on the effects of lead upon the central nervous system and intellectual performance in children in this century.
