Propofol and methohexital are widely used in TIVA. As ketamine has as anaesthetic as analgetic activity, some data suggest that addiction of the ketamine to different basic anaesthetics reduce side effects and eliminate opioid related postoperative ventilatory depression. The aim of our study was to compare the effect of combination propofol/ketamine and methohexital/ketamine used in TIVA for laparoscopic cholecystectomy on haemodynamic and biochemical parameters of stress reaction. We evaluated that the ketamine decrease endocrine response to stress reaction reflected by cortisol and glucose blood serum concentrations, but only in combination with propofol stabilises haemodynamics.
