A moderate-sized joint effusion is located in the superior joint compartment (arrow). The mandibular condyle (arrowhead), which is normally located within the glenoid fossa (asterix) of the temporal bone, is displaced anteriorly. The articular disc (thick arrow) is displaced anteriorly.
