Figure 4 A 51-year-old male patient experienced a recurrence 8 years after surgery for a lumbar 5 sacral 1 (L5-S1) disc herniation. Preoperative MRI and CT scans in 2015 indicated a left-sided disc herniation at L5-S1 (A). Postoperative CT and MRI scans following PELD in 2015 showed good decompression at L5-S1 (B). Preoperative CT and MRI scans in 2023 indicated a recurrent disc herniation at L5-S1 (C). CT scans on the third day after UBE revision and suturing in 2023 showed good decompression at L5-S1 (D). MRI scans 3 months postoperatively showed good repair of the annulus fibrosus; dynamic position X-rays indicated good stability at L5-S1 (E).
