Figure 1 Preoperative (A) and postoperative (B) magnetic resonance images demonstrating the efficacy of the unilateral laminotomy for bilateral decompression (ULBD) approach. The preoperative image shows severe canal stenosis characterized by disc bulge, ligamentum flavum hypertrophy, and hypertrophic facet joints. The image, obtained 6 years after ULBD, shows effective decompression of the canal.
