Figure 1 (A) Magnetic resonance imaging of a 60-year-old man showing a cerebral abscess measuring 4.9×3.6×4.0 cm in the right frontal lobe. The formula of V=abc/2 (length×width×height×0.5) was used to calculate the abscess volume. (B) Treatment comprised abscess aspiration followed by a 35-day regimen of intravenous antimicrobial therapy. A postoperative computerized tomography scan revealed a significant reduction in abscess volume as well as an improvement in mass effect.
