| The intubation time and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) stay were shorter in the laryngeal mask airway group (group L) than in the endotracheal tube group (group E). No significant differences were observed in intubation attempts, airway response grades after intubation, extubation time, crying time, or adverse effects, such as laryngospasm, coughing, nausea, vomiting, and administration of propofol and fentanyl between the groups. Airway responses after intubation were categorized into 4 grades: (1) no gagging, coughing, or laryngospasm; (2) mild gagging, coughing, or laryngospasm; (3) moderate gagging, coughing, or laryngospasm; and (4) severe gagging, coughing, or laryngospasm. Data are expressed as means and standard deviations or numbers and percentages. Group L – laryngeal mask airway group; group E – endotracheal tube group; PACU – post-anesthesia care unit. * | ||||
