Data are presented as mean±SD. The body mass index (BMI) is determined by dividing mass (kg) by the square of height (m).
1 Healthy Taiwanese male university students (control group) were defined as individuals with no prior experience in weightlifting or other specialized sports.
2 Elite male weightlifters (weightlifting group) were defined as athletes who competed in the 77 kg and 85 kg weight classes of the men’s open division at the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games in Taiwan. Normally distributed data are given as mean±SD and non-normally distributed data are expressed as median (IQR).
a Statistical significances of values were determined by the independent samples test, and
b values were determined by the Mann-Whitney U test between the 2 groups.
