Table 1 Baseline patient and airway characteristics.
| Characteristic | Group UE (n=53) | Group MedAn (n=53) | P value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Age (year) | 63.0 (51.0, 66.5) | 60.0 (50.0, 69.0) | 0.995 |
| Sex, male/female (n) | 29/24 | 27/26 | 0.697 |
| BMI (kg m) | 22.5 (21.8, 24.7) | 22.8 (21.8, 24.2) | 0.949 |
| ASA-PS (I/II/III, n) | 10/43/0 | 13/40/0 | 0.480 |
| Mallampati score (I/II/III, n) | 38/14/1 | 36/16/1 | 0.911 |

| Mouth opening (cm) | 4.6±0.7 | 4.7±0.8 | 0.424 |
| BMI – body mass index; ASA-PS – American Society of Anesthesiologists Classification of Physical Status. The thyromental distance is measured from the chin (mentum) to the top of the thyroid cartilage when the head is fully extended. I >6.5 cm, II 6-6.5 cm. Group UE – left double-lumen tube intubation with the UE videolaryngoscope. Group MedAn – left double-lumen tube intubation with the MedAn videolaryngoscope with the Nishikawa blade.
