Abstract
Cardiac arrhythmia can be a serious complication during general anesthesia of patients suffering from cardiac arrhythmia's and using antiarrhytmic drugs. The aim of the present study was to establish the path of lidocaine and verapamil influence hemodynamic parameters of rabbits during methohexital anesthesia. The experiments were performed on rabbits. Heart rate was counted according to ECG. Blood pressure was measured directly in the carotid artery. Cardiac output, stroke volume, and total peripheral resistance were estimated using the method of human 125J albumin dilution. Lidocaine administered simultaneously with methohexital weakens the effect of methohexital on blood pressure in rabbits. After the administration of methohexital with lidocaine heart rate was similar to the initial value, while as compared to methohexital alone it was higher in the second hour of the experiment. After methohexital-lidocaine administration an increase in blood pressure and heart rate was observed, as compared to methohexital alone and lidocaine alone. Decrease in blood pressure was observed after the administration of verapamil and methohexital. Combined administration of these drugs enhanced the hypotensive effect of both drugs. Administration of methohexital-verapamil caused statistically significant decrease in peripheral resistance as compared to the inital value and also to methohexital alone.
