Letter to the Editor regarding: Negative pressure wound therapy

ABSTRACT: Negative wound pressure therapy is a unique application of implementing positive mechanical force. Generally it is used to treat surgical site infection to improve the wound conditions before secondary closure. Today, however negative wound pressure therapy is also used to prevent surgical site infection occurrence. Another additionally area is under investigation by using sub-atmospheric pressure to support the ingrowth of dermal substitute for the treatment of full-thickness skin defects in a one-step closure method.
