We have read with great interest the article by Gonzalez and colleagues appeared in Med Sci Monit, 2003; 9: CR 363–68 [1] indicating high sensitivity (95%) but low specifi city (35–45%) of the [sup]14[/sup]C-urea breath test (14C-UBT) for the detection of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. Perhaps this is the only report that showed poor specifi city of [sup]14
