Background:The aim of this study is to compare the clinical features of NASH patients with cross-matched CHCLS patients.Material/Methods:53 consecutive patients (F/M=20/33;mean age:42 ±9yrs)who fulfilled NASH criteria and 106 crossmatched (1:2)to age at biopsy and gender non-alcoholic CHCLS patients have been analysed.The biopsy specimens were evaluated according to the Ishak ’s criteria and steatosis was grouped as LS1 (1 –10%),LS2 (11 –30%)and LS3 (>30%of involved hepatocytes).The medians of body mass index (BMI) and biochemical parameters (ALT, AST, GTP, cholesterol [CHOL ]and triglycerides [TG ]levels;all expressed as multiplicity of upper normal limits [unl ])as well as frequency of moderate/severe fibrosis (stage >2),LS extent,obesity (BMI>30), hyperlipidaemia (CHOL and/or TG >unl)and diabetes mellitus were compared.
