Abstract
Dear Editor,
I agree with the comments regarding the new, emerging therapiesaiming to control the pathogenetic mechanisms of septic shock. We would like to emphasize that the complexityand interdependence of these mechanisms make therapeutic manipulations very difficult. The aim of ourpaper recently published in MSM [1] was just to discuss the pathogenesis of septic shock, form a clinicalperspective and in particular to emphasize the need for an effective source control of sepsis. Withouta definitive source control of sepsis, every therapeutic attempt will fail. Effective source controlof sepsis is a prerequisite for a successful outcome of the septic patient. Therapeutic management ofseptic shock (including the role of source control) is discussed in detail in another paper, recentlypublished in the European Journal of Anesthesiology [2].
Sincerely,
