Abstract
Background: The syndrome of mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is the most common form of valvular heart disease.
Case Report: The case of a 16-year-old girl with mitral valve prolapse, atrial flutter and syncope is presented. The patient was admitted to the clinic complaining of atypical chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness at physical efforts, fatigue, and a feeling of fogginess. Electrocardiogram showed the presence of the common-type atrial fl utter with 3:1 ventricular responses. Echocardiography showed mitral valve prolapse with mild mitral regurgitation. The patient reported to have had these symptoms for about nine months. She was not aware of heart disease before.
Conclusions: A young female patient with combined mitral valve prolapse, atrial fl utter, and syncope is presented.
