Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome in the course of ankylosing spondylitis

Abstract
We present a report of co-existing of ankylosing spondylitis and the hypereosinophilic syndrome, two quite rare diseases, in a 72 year old patient. We have not found any other report of such a case in the available literature, although eosinophilia is not uncommon in rheumatic disorders.
