The axisymmetric large abdominal aortic aneurysm is considered in terms of formulated dimensionless parameters reflecting geometry and the actual arterial wave form. Numerical solutions of the differential equations yield wall shear stresses and normal forces which are verified experimentally in vitro. It is established that, depending on the parameter magnitudes, there are one or two separation regions. It is verified that the maximum stresses are located at the exit neck of the aneurysm. Data on ratios of the maximum wall shear stress within the aneurysm to the wall shear stress at the inlet tube are provided. The separation regions found in the experimental and numerical results were observed to be the site for clots formation in the live specimen of an aneurysm removed during a surgery.
