Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the most common types of the human interventricular septal arterial vessels branching off the left anterior descending artery (LAD) and to establish the distribution of atheromatous changes in these vessels. The study was carried out on 145 dead bodies of patients aged 28-88. The technique of direct preparation, corrosive technique and coronarography were used and the segments for histopathologic examination were taken. Three types of septal vascularivation were established: Type 1 - one predominant septal trunk with ramifications and a small number of fine septal vessels from the LAD. Type 2 - one predominant septal branch without ramifications and numerous fine septal branches from the LAD. Type 3 - two predominant septal branches and a small number of fine septal branches from the LAD. It was found that the atheromatous laminas developed in the LAD were not present in the septal branches. It was also found that the changes accumulated at septal brach openings. Considering tyhe results of the study it seems that type 1 forms the best conditions for direct revascularization of the interventricular septum.
