Acute myocardial infarction without atherosclerosis - isolated thrombosis of the left anterior descending artery

Abstract
An acute myocardial infarction in a young woman without atherosclerotic lesion in the coronary arteries is reported. Angiographically, isolated thrombus on the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery was diagnosed, with normal arteriographic findings in the remaining coronary arteries. After thrombectomy and sequential revascularisation of the LAD coronary artery the patient was reassessed to evaluate the risk factors of thrombosis. The only abnormal laboratory finding was protein C activity reduced to 60%.
