Recent advances in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence have resulted in increased interest of gynaecologists in this problem. We reviewed the literature published within the last two years and assessed the approaches. We paid special attention to the choice of the method and to the results obtained. We stressed the significance of correct diagnosis in successful treatment. Apart from conservative and surgical treatment we discussed endoscopic procedures which are becoming more and more popular. Combined therapy with surgery as its main part seems to offer an opportunity to achieve a still better therapeutic outcome.
