A total of 182 patients with spontaneous intracerebral haematomas was included in the study. The results, one month after treatment, were analysed separately using the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) for the 142 surgical patients and the 40 patients treated conservatily. Statistical analysis of the relationship between the effect of treatment and the variables studied demonstrated that the factors of the greatest importance in predicting the results of treatment were: Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score, diameter and volume of haematoma, patient's age, blood pressure and clinical condition as measured on the Hunt-Hess Scale (H-H), especially in surgically treated patients.
