Abstract

Tha aim of the study was to analyse incidence ratio of insulin dependent diabetes in children of 0-14 years of age in Upper Silesia region (Poland). The population of the analysed region constitutes 1/10 of the whole population of Poland, so the results of this study can be useful for estimation of IDDM children in Poland. Incidence ratio of IDDM increased in the analysed years (from 1989 till 1995) for the whole examined population. Higher incidence ratio was found in boys only in a group of the youngest (0-4 years). Sex did not matter for incidence ratio in the group of children 5-9 and 10-14 years of age.
