Abstract

Adhesive molecules seem to play an important role in the pathogenesis of diseases of immunological origin. Hence the evaluation of the presence and expression of these molecules in different tissues may help to determine disease etiology and suggest therapeutic dvancements. Fluorescent techniques with the use of monoclonal antibodies are of particular importance to further this work. This paper presents the results of studies on adhesive molecule expression in neoplastic diseases, transplantology, vasculitis, atherosclerosis, tissue damage caused by ischemia and reperfusion, asthma, alimentary tract diseases, hepatopathies, kidney diseases, diseases of central nervous system, arthritis, sepsis, skin diseases, and endocrine disorders.
