Abstract
Psoriasis is an inflammatory disorder characterized by hyperproliferation of keratinocytes, in which the production of various cytokines is substentially altered. The aim of the study was to compare soluble interleukin 2 receptor (sIL-2R) and interleukin 8 (IL-8) concentrations in psoriatic patients with a control group, as well as to evaluate the level of these markers in relation to the psoriasis severity and activity index (PASI) and the duration of the disease. Concentrations of sIL-2R were determined in 39 patients, IL-8 in 10 patients and in 11 persons of the control group. Statistically significant differences were found between values for psoriatic patients and for the control group. The results of sIL-2R determinations reveal their close with the extent of the disease as evaluated by PASI score. No statistical relationship between the concentrations of the cytokine markers and the duration of the disease was observed.
