Analysis of the prevalence of cleft lip and palate in Łódź during the period between 1981-1995 with the form of the cleft and sex of the newborns

Abstract
Over 132.783 newborns (between 1981-1995) have been analyzed to reveal 267 infants with a cleft lip and/or palate which made the mean frequency of clefts at 2 per 1000. Additionally, we defined the forms and sides of clefts, as well as the sex of children with clefts. The comparison of Łódz studies during the period of 1951-65 and 1981-95 indicates a slight increase in the occurence of clefts.
