Abstract
The authors describe the results of the treatment of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas with catheter embolisation of the branches of external carotid artery. The group of patients included 19 boys, aged 12-17, pre-treated in the Department of Radiology of the Medical Centre of Post-Graduate Education, Medical University of Białystok and in the United Voivodship Hospital in Warsaw. The patients were treated in the Departments of Otolaryngology of MCPE and MUB. In all the patients the intravascular superselective embolisation of the branches of external carotid artery was performed with the use of gelfoame and/or Ivalon as the embolisation material. The regression of the lesion not requiring any operative treatment occurred in 5 patients after embolisation
