Preoperative embolisation of vertebral tumours

Abstract
17 patients with spinal tumours verified by diagnostic imaging (X-ray, CT, MR) underwent angiographic examination. After the visualisation of afferent vessels, the preoperative embolisation with Ivalon or gelfoame particles and coils was carried out. Primary tumours were found in 7 cases, while metastatic lesions occurred in 10 patients. Embolisation proved successful in all the cases and no complications were observed.
