Authors have shown prolactin's physical and chemical characteristics and regulation of prolactin synthesis and secretion. Next, they have discussed classical (e.g. the mammotropic effect, the lactogenic, luteotropic, and lactatic ones) and new-recognized effects (e.g. an infuence on the metabolism of suprarenal steroids, prostate steroids, liver carbohydrates, liver lipids, male and female gonads function modulatory aspects). The most interesting there were aspects related to potential use of prolaction into some organs transplantation, the liver mainly.
