Aim of study: Assessment of the concentration of interleukin 2 (IL-2), soluble interleukin 2 receptor (sIL-2R)
and interferon gamma before and after the cycle of rabies vaccination.
Material and methods: The study was conducted on 19 subjects aged 16-38 years, in whom post-exposition rabies prophylactics with Wistar Rabies PM/WI 38-1503-3M was applied. IL-2, sIL-2R and INF gamma were determined in blood serum before and on the second day after the completion of basic vaccination cycle.
Results: No statistically significant changes in the concentrations of studied cytokines were observed.
Conclusions: The results obtained may indicate the absence of antigen stimulation with vaccine virus administered to blood serum after completion of basic vaccination cycle. It is presumed that IL-2 and INF gamma will be more useful in the prophylactics of this dangerous disease in the future.
