Abstract
The authors give the activities and concentrations of final products of the organism's anti-oxidation system, in the cerebrospinal fluid of infants in the course of hydrocephalus. The concentrations of tokopherol and reduced glutathione have been analyzed, as well as the activities of glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dysmutase. Taking as a basis the performed biochemical studies it has been found that in the course of hydrocephalus-associated intracranial hypertension significant changes of in the selected components of the antyoxidation system occur. However, it can be said that the concentration of malonic dialdehyde cannot be considered as a sensitive indicator of the lipids' peroxidation processes in central nervous system. On the other hand, the correlation between the MDA concentration and GSH & GSH-Px activities seems to be a factor of much higher importance.
